After 4 visits in the past 2 years, and yes ONLY 4, finally Miss Ain has found THE TWO at Marble Slab’s Cluny Court outlet.

Mr Swiss Chocolate and Miss Mint definitely made their way into Miss Ain’s Hall of Food! Mr Swiss Chocolate is rich and Miss Mint is well balanced. The sweetness level is definitely within Miss Ain’s approved limit.

And did I mention Marble Slab’s ice cream cake roooooaaaarrrrrs!!!

Miss Ain is finally back from Jupiter and is ready to re-start her blogging engine. She has made a vow to publish all those hibernating posts(a total of 103!!!!) hibernating in her draft folder since like forever. Due to the STM (Short Term Memory) syndrome that she’s currently suffering from, she has decided that she needs a blog to remind her of her “forgotten” life. So hopefully, hopefully she will stick to her vow this time round (even though its like errr 70% unlikely).

Holly cow! Its been more than a year!!!

Goreng Pisangs are bananas, that have been coated with flour batter and deep fried to perfection. Yummy! A really nice Goreng Pisang, is one where the banana is not too riped or too raw and the batter is of the right texture and taste. The amount of oil for deep frying plays an important part too. At Killiney Curry Puff, the Goreng Pisangs are definitely one of their MUST TRY items. Soft and sweet in the inside and crispy on the outside. Kena dengan teh sarabat…terangkat terus!

Curry/Sardine Puffs are pastry shells filled with potato curry or sardine and again, deep fried. The puffs here are huge and also one of the MUST TRY items.

Hmmmm…the best food are usually the unhealthy ones…how to stay healthy and slim like that?! You need food to live you know and you cannot force yourself to eat horrible food lor. See…its not that Miss Ain likes being fat…its just that she loves herself too much to torture her tastebuds.

Anyways if you happen to be travelling along Killiney Road, do make an attempt to drop by the shop. It closes at around 7PM daily. So be sure to catch your Goreng Pisang and Puffs early and while its still piping hot!

Killiney Curry Puff

Thanks to her hidden Jamie talent, Miss Ain managed to come up with quite a tasty fusion sandwich! Surprise surprise! It’s a cross breed sandwich. A match made in heaven between an ang moh sandwich and a Mama muratabak.

Cheesy Minced Meat Sandwich

Ingredients:
minced meat
grounded garlic
salt
thinly sliced onions
curry powder
wholemeal bread
olive oil
2 slices of cheese
1 egg

1. Heat up some olive oil in a saucepan and fry the minced meat until half cook. Add the grounded garlic, sliced onions, salt and curry powder, and continue frying until the meat is cooked.
2. Fry the egg sunny side up
3. Layer the bread with cheese, egg and the minced meat in any order you prefer.
4. In a clean pan, heat up some olive oil (probably abt 1.5 tbsp). Put the sandwich into the pan until the cheese melted and the outer side of the bread turns crispy.
5. Slice into half and serve.

During one of those “dunno-what-to-do” nights a couple of months back, Miss Ain decided to pay a visit to the much-hyped BK Whopper Bar@Clark Quay. Her first visit and it was a disappointment.

Miss Ain was expecting a “WOW over-the-top” burger but instead she got a “normal” looking and taste one. After doing a 30 minute thesis on her burger, here are the findings:

They do serve a couple of Whopper Bar exclusive burgers and of course there are “more” variety of drinks to go with your meal.

The interior of the bar was nice, with a couple of cosy corner seats. So, that kind of compensate for the “normal” burger.

Hmmmm tak boleh angkat sungguh bila Miss Ain emo!!! Melampau you!!!

Batam View Resort is a short 10 minutes bus ride from Nongsa Ferry Terminal. Resort is clean and quite self sufficient in terms of facilities. There’s a welcome syrup drink for all hotel guests. Ok lah…better than nothing right.

It has a private lagoon where you can soak yourself sampai kembang BUT being the typical minah kan cheong, Miss Ain refused to get into the waters after reading a signboard with these words on it “Beware of Stone Fish”. Oh no no…Stone Fish Batu Fish Miss Ain is so the tak sanggup nak masuk itu laut. Takut pulak teringat cerita kawan pasal his friend who got stung by a Stone Fish. Sampai naik ambulance pergi hospital!

Miss Ain got herself a room facing the pool and the open sea. Best kan! Very breezy and a good spot to do some “people watching”. Many many “things” you can see from the balcony. The pool being the most favourite spot for Miss Ain.

If you can afford to spend more, then Miss Ain would suggest you to get the Sea View Bungalow.

From what Miss Ain gathered from the various peeping activities, the interior and exterior of the bungalow seemed quite well kept. The only disadvantage for those staying at the bungalow, is that they have to walk quite a distance to the restaurant and pool. If perut sudah lapar, confirm boleh berantakan jalan ke restaurant!

On the highest floor of the resort building, is the 5th Dimension Spa.

You can book your spa packages here. Spa facilities was OK. Not as WOW as what Miss Ain expected but still OK (Miss Ain got the back into the 90s feeling at the spa ).
The masseuses here can be quite talkative. During the 3 hour spa, Miss Ain got to know about the masseuse’s family history. She got a father who ran away with another woman while she was young. She has to support her mom and her younger siblings and it was very tough. And for the females, please request for a FEMALE masseuses otherwise you might end up with a Lady Boy.

Now for the food, there’s a restaurant just next to the resort (OK…it is one of the resort’s restaurant actually) called Kelong. The food was not bad and not too over priced. Dinner was served at the Kelong for the full board package and you can pre-order a birthday cake if you or anyone else in your troupe is celebrating his/her birthday. Its FREE!!! Itu yang Miss Ain suka!!!

Besides the Kelong, there’s another restaurant within the main building itself.

Buffet@Batam View Resort

Miss Ain had her buffet breakfast and lunch there and the food was generally good. Buffet some more!!! So value for money!!! MISS AIN LIKE SO THE VERY VERY MUCH!!!

On the overall, Miss Ain enjoyed her stay there apart from the unnecessary happenings such as

eating pineapple and pepper (yes again! Miss Ain mistook the pepper for salt)

Oh by the way the resort provides a return shuttle to Batam City Centre for SGD10 twice daily for you to do that shopping.

Batam View Resort Review:
Room **** (Excellent…with some musky smell in the carpet but that’s OK)
View **** (Excellent…especially the pool side…quite a feast for the eyes)
Staff **** (Excellent…extremely helpful especially during the mishaps mentioned just above)
Food **** (Excellent…Probably Kelong will need to improve a little bit)
